We Heard the Heartbeat!

I had another doctors appointment yesterday and we were able to hear the heartbeat. It was strong and fast so everything still seems to be on track, which is a good thing. I felt like crap yesterday and was so thrilled to have the doctor poke and prod me and push on my stomach but it is all definatley worth it. I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks (the 6th of June) and will post some pics then. It will actually look like a baby rather than a gummie bear. I doubt we will be able to find out the sex of it then but I do get to have another ultrasound the week of July 9th to the 15th and they will be able to tell by then.

Okay, here it is as promised! It is only 2 weeks late, but hey, we all know that I am lazy. Besides I didn't really have anything to report when I got it and lets face it, it does not look like anything! Maybe a gummy bear if you use your imagination!

I have been released to my regular doctor and I no longer have to take the Prometrium and Estrace anymore. I know everyone (except you Shannon) is thinking I don't even know what those are so I will tell you. They are basically estrogen and progesterone which is required to support a pregnancy. Because they were giving me the menopausal meds for so long my body was running a little low on both those and they needed to top me up so to speak.

I had an appointment with my regular family doctor, which I have not seen in over a year, so it was nice to be able to go back to him. He was happy to hear that we finally got pregnant and after we told him it took IVF to do the trick he seemed quite interested in the process. I have to go back on the 22nd of May and have the second half of my appointment. I have been booked for June 6th to have another ultrasound so I should be posting that photo... oh sometime in July! LOL! Just Kidding. I will try to get it on sooner than I did with this one. I will be almost in my second trimester by then and they may or may not be able to tell the sex of the baby by then. Hopefully they will!

Today's beta results are....

940!!!. The average beta # for 17 days past transfer is in the 400's so this could indicate multiples or it could just be that one implanted early and is doing well, or really just mean nothing at all. I have heard all sorts of high #'s be just one baby and vise versa so we will see. I will go back to the clinic for an ultrasound on the 30th of this month. It seems like an eternity but I am glad that we have got this far. We are not out of the woods yet, cause IVF babies have a higher percentage of miscarriage but I am holding my breath until the ultrasound. After we see the heartbeat I will breathe a little easier but until then I am cautiously optimistic. After the first trimester I may even be happy!! LOL!!! Just kidding, I am happy just trying not to set myself up for a fall.

Transfer

We have one embie that was a 3.5 (5 being the best and 1 being the worst) and 2 embies at 2 so we decided to transfer all three. I guess I only have a chance at a singleton and that would be best for my sanity so I suppose that is good. I am trying to keep a positive attitude about the good one so we will see in a few weeks.

Well the nurse just called (way earlier than 3:30) and they said we have less than 4 embryoes left and the transfer will be tomorrow at 10:45. I hate to be negative but I already have a really bad feeling about this cycle. Everything has been SH!T about it so I do not hold much hope for it at all. Oh well I guess we will just have to try agian if it doesn't work. Oh goodie more F'N debt!!!

The nurse just called and we have 5 that made it. I am not sure why half didn't make it but I didn't want to ask either. I find the less I know the better!! We are scheduled for a 5 day transfer (Friday) but my clinic requires 5 embies for that and if one doesn't make it when they check on them tomorrow, then we will be doing the 3 day on Wednesday. If they don't call me then we are good to go for Friday. She told me if they were going to call it would be after 3:30 tomorrow so I will know more then.

Egg Retrieval

The retrieval went well. They got 10 eggs and I will know tomorrow how many were mature and how many fertilized. They will also tell me if we are doing a 3 or 5 day transfer as well. It hurt, but not too much thanks to my altered state of mind. I don't know what they gave me but it was relaxing!
